Why bother with a daily check?
Five minutes before you drive can catch a bald tyre, a dead light or damaged bodywork before it becomes a roadside stop — or worse. For taxi, PHV and fleet drivers, a dated record also helps when licensing or management asks what you did.
Knowing what to check is the easy bit. Keeping a record you can find later is where paper and spreadsheets fall apart.
What to check each day

Headlights, sidelights, brake lights, indicators, hazards and number-plate lights.

- What is a daily vehicle checklist?
- A short walkaround you do before driving — lights, tyres, brakes, mirrors, bodywork and so on — so you spot problems before the vehicle goes out.
- Who needs one in the UK?
- Anyone driving for work, really — fleets, taxi and PHV drivers, operators. Licensing teams often want to see that checks are happening and recorded.
- Is paper still OK?
